The Arts visit London 2025

This year’s annual trip to London for art and photography students was truly blessed with glorious weather. Travelling to the capital by train, students were immediately immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of the city—experiencing everything from tube journeys and world-class galleries to theatre outings, dining in bustling Leicester Square, and even a relaxing river cruise.

The first day began with a visit to the National Gallery, where students viewed an impressive range of artwork—from Duccio, Goya, Turner, Holbein, and Stubbs to the Impressionists and Monet. Seeing these masterpieces in person, many of which they had studied in class, was a captivating experience. A brief stop at the National Portrait Gallery followed, giving students the chance to see portraits of many familiar historical and cultural figures.

After enjoying pizza in Leicester Square, the group headed to the theatre for an unforgettable performance of The Lion King.

Day two featured a visit to Tate Modern, a striking contrast to the classical works seen the day before. The contemporary collection proved to be thought-provoking—challenging, surprising, exciting, and at times, delightfully puzzling.

Later, a scenic river cruise provided a welcome rest, offering beautiful views of the city and a chance to enjoy lunch in the warmth of the summer sun. The trip concluded with some free time exploring the lively Covent Garden area—a perfect way to end a memorable visit.

Special thanks go to Mrs O’Shea for organising the trip, and to our fantastic students for making it such a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
