Liskeard School Welcomes New Year 8 Peer Mentors Following NHS Training

Liskeard School & Community College is delighted to announce that 34 Year 8 students have undertaken training with the NHS Children’s Mental Health Support Team in preparation for their new roles as Peer Mentors.

Peer Mentors play an essential role in supporting the school community, particularly in helping Year 6 pupils transition smoothly into Year 7. The program fosters leadership, empathy, and active listening, equipping students with the tools to provide meaningful support to their younger peers.

All Year 8 students were invited to apply, and those selected participated in a dynamic training session that emphasised the importance of mental health, communication, and compassion. We warmly welcome our new Peer Mentors and look forward to the positive impact they will have throughout the school year.
