chartwells-logoDetailed below is a letter from our catering partner Chartwells regarding recent updates to EU Food Informatio Regulations.

I am writing to inform you about our approach to meet the forthcoming EU Food Information regulations that come into effect on the 13th December 2014.

These regulations make a number of changes to existing nutritional labelling requirements but more importantly introduce new mandatory requirements for the provision of allergen information on all food provided.

The impact of an allergic reaction or intolerance could have serious implications and we believe that it sits firmly within our health & safety responsibilities. We intend to provide the required allergen information to customers, who consume food in our current contract with you.

Chartwells for the last five years has been able to provide allergen information for the 14 EU allergens for all our recipes, and with some small changes to our processes we will be meeting the new regulations by December 13th 2014.

Our online menu planning system stores recipe and ingredient information, this system is live allowing us to provide up-to-date accurate information at all times.

Chartwells is under no illusion that this will continue to be a big piece of work and requires complete control of our supply chain; for this reason we are continuing to work very closely with our suppliers on this matter and engaging stakeholders across the business to ensure we are ready for the changes these regulations will bring.

We are developing training for all of our front line colleagues to ensure that the changes to the regulations are fully understood. In addition in the coming weeks we are also holding regional allergy training for all of our catering managers.

For further information please do not hesitate to contact me or any of my operations team or alternatively if you want further information on the regulations you can contact
