It is a one year course which could lead on to a Level 3 course after completion

Students attend the college for three days each week to receive knowledge information

Students are in placements for two days each week

This course is for pupils who do not get 5 A* - C grades at GCSE – Level 3 is available for suitable students after successful completion of this course

In order to attain this qualification, students are assessed on their practical skills when working with babies and children – no theory exam – but students will also have to complete written assignments or tasks which are set by the exam board

Thirteen mandatory units of work need to be completed to gain the Level 2 qualification, along with an optional unit weighting of 4 credits (typically one or two optional units)

011              Contribute to the Support of Positive Environments for Children and Young People

012              Understand Partnership working in Services for Children and Young People

014              Maintain and Support Relationships with Children and Young People

015              Paediatric Emergency First Aid

016              Managing Paediatric Illness and Injury
