Liskeard School and Community College was delighted last week to welcome David Wells (Director of local charity, Heartswell).  David came to donate a defibrillator to the school and also to arrange a training programme for students and staff in the school to educate all about the signs and symptoms of cardiac arrest and related problems, and how to respond.

9 students from Liskeard School & Community College from Year 8, 9 and 10 attended a Holocaust Memorial Day event at Truro Cathedral. The day included an exhibition allowing attendees to explore the path of the genocide, learn the personal experiences of survivors, understand how genocide is still happening today and what can be done about it.  Students also wrote a message to hang on the Tree of Hope.

Liskeard School and Community College was thrilled to receive a cheque for £500 from the Town Mayor, Jane Pascoe.  Jane has been tireless in her support for Liskeard school and for the STEM (Science, Technology and Maths) agenda in the last six months, helping the school to raise funds for projects and equipment, and drumming up local business contacts and support for the school.

Over fifty students and several staff performed a superb rendition of the popular musical Bugsy Malone to capacity audiences at Liskeard School & Community College before Christmas.  It was a terrifically lively performance that was enjoyed by all and was the culmination of months of hard work and dedication by students and Creative and Performing Arts staff.

Liskeard School and Community College were privileged to work with Tam Fowles from Hope in the Heart, a not-for-profit social enterprise based in Cornwall, to be the first school in Cornwall to host the international exhibition Anne Frank: A History for Today. Liskeard was selected as one of only two schools in the South West to pilot the Anne Frank School’s project that has been running across the country for the last 25 years.
