Liskeard School Defibrillator Training

Liskeard School staff and members of the Town Council and local community were delighted to benefit from a first aid training session run by Sarah Dormor, Senior Resuscitation Officer at the Derriford Hospital.  The opportunity arose from the donation of a defibrillator by local charity Heartswell in February.

Sarah volunteers her time with the charity and ran a highly enjoyable and informative session about how to help and potentially save the life of someone who suffers a heart attack.  By both being able to perform CPR competently and use a defibrillator (there is now one on the school site and six in Liskeard) people‚Äôs chances of surviving a heart attack dramatically increase from around 8% to up to 70%.

Liskeard School Football Academy

Liskeard School Football Academy was founded 2013 after a successful Sixth Form Football team and has gone from strength to strength. The past season was the first full season working in conjunction with the Plymouth Argyle Community Trust and more specifically coach Jason Chapman, who has fulfilled his promises to improve the professionalism, and in turn the results and success on the pitch.

Liskeard School and Community College recently held a non-uniform day to raise funds for Year 10 student Kathryn Walters. The money raised is helping to take her to Guelph, Ontario, Canada to take part in the 2017 World Dwarf Games this summer.

The school was recently visited by Tom, a regional development officer, from the Dwarf Sports Association. Tom presented to students about sporting opportunities and support for people with dwarfism and restricted growth conditions.

Year 11 Ball 2017

Students had a send-off to remember as they returned to Liskeard School for the Year 11 Ball 2017. Proud families and members of the local community lined the school grounds in the Cornish sunshine and looked on with pride and delight, as the students arrived in their finest suits and gowns.

There was an array of vehicles on show including classic cars, sports cars, tractors and 1 group even turned up with their pet dogs in tow!

Mock Election 2017

Students at Liskeard School & Community College were gripped with the events leading up to the recent General Election as the school continued its drive to get more young people interested in politics.

The School was awarded the prestigious Discovering Democracy Award last year by the British Youth Council for creating a positive culture of citizenship and democracy. Liskeard Sixth Form student Luke Moynan was also recently honoured to be voted the East Cornwall Representative in the UK Youth Parliament. His role is South East Cornwall Member of Youth Parliament. He takes a lead role in the newly formed South East Cornwall Youth Cabinet set up to support the MYP and engage more young people in politics.
