Brendon Teague, a Condition Based Maintenance engineering Manager from South West Water, delivered a presentation and demonstrated numerous pieces of equipment including thermal imaging cameras, laser aligning equipment, Oil Analysis equipment and Vibration Monitoring and Analysis software to support Liskeard Sixth Form A-level students with their coursework on ‘The Engineering Environment.’

Kathy Wallis, National President of the NASUWT, the largest Teachers' Union in the UK, recently visited Liskeard School and Community College as part of her current programme of national and international school visits to meet with the Head Teacher, Alex Lingard, the Vice Chair of Governors, Ian Williams, the new President of the Cornish Executive Body of the NASUWT, Helen Leon, and many union members.

Liskeard School and Community College was delighted last week to welcome David Wells (Director of local charity, Heartswell).  David came to donate a defibrillator to the school and also to arrange a training programme for students and staff in the school to educate all about the signs and symptoms of cardiac arrest and related problems, and how to respond.

9 students from Liskeard School & Community College from Year 8, 9 and 10 attended a Holocaust Memorial Day event at Truro Cathedral. The day included an exhibition allowing attendees to explore the path of the genocide, learn the personal experiences of survivors, understand how genocide is still happening today and what can be done about it.  Students also wrote a message to hang on the Tree of Hope.

Liskeard School and Community College was thrilled to receive a cheque for £500 from the Town Mayor, Jane Pascoe.  Jane has been tireless in her support for Liskeard school and for the STEM (Science, Technology and Maths) agenda in the last six months, helping the school to raise funds for projects and equipment, and drumming up local business contacts and support for the school.
