On 24th and 25th March we took a road trip up to the University of Warwick with the year 12 further mathematicians. The students had their first real taste of university life. We were met by one of the student ambassadors who gave us a tour of the university. We were visiting the maths and statistics department and had a couple of lectures. These were very informative on the courses that are available, as well as studying away from home and living independently.

GCSE Drama students recently performed their scripted pieces to an audience of friends, relatives and Mr Lingard!  The performances were an eclectic mix of the funny, entertaining, moving and thought provoking. All the students performed incredibly well and parents commented on how much they had enjoyed the evening.  Ms Farrow and I also enjoyed watching the pieces and were really proud of the students.  Mrs Crawshaw.

Two of our Music teachers, Judy Whitlock and Steven Lunn, have composed pieces of music for performance by the prestigious Plymouth Symphony Orchestra this coming week.

Judy Whitlock's 'Dartmoor Letterboxes' was commissioned by the orchestra in 2002 and is being performed again this summer. The music for full orchestra portrays 7 Dartmoor Tors, and also features a linking 'Walking Theme' to be performed (at Sterts) by 5 of our school's young flute players.

Every week 1 on a Thursday Science club runs in S11 at lunch times with Mr Trudgett

Some of the students have entered an international competition "curious about Copper"  run by  the Copper development association. The students had to look at how copper is used in everyday life and its impact on society. The students decided to look at the health and medical uses of copper, how it is used in our diet, its germ killing ability and how it is used in hospitals.

Staff and students at Liskeard School & Community College recently took part in a number of activities to raise money for the communities affected by the devastating earthquakes in Nepal.

The fundraising began with staff and students participating in a whole school dress down day, contributions from which raised over £700.
