A group of Year 9 students at Liskeard School & Community College were invited to join a two and a half day course focusing on effective problem solving. They were set a series of challenges associated with a possible global catastrophe which was likely to occur 25 years into the future, and had to produce a report detailing the solutions that needed to be addressed and implemented.

Liskeard School and Community College recently held their prestigious annual Awards Evening, recognising the excellent achievements of students from all year groups throughout the academic year.

The formal evening held in the New Hall was organised by Assistant Head Teacher Dawn Penberthy and Publicity Apprentice Kelly Yeoman and provided the perfect setting to recognise those students that had excelled over the past year.

Liskeard Sixth Form held their annual Summer Ball recently to celebrate the students’ time at Liskeard and say farewell before the start of their new journey. The ball took place at St Mellion Golf and Country Club in Saltash, which proved to be a delightful setting for the staff and students.

The year 12 and 13 students enjoyed the warm summer evening and were able to enjoy the picturesque setting of St Mellion on the balcony, which provided a great backdrop for photos to remember their time at Sixth Form and the wonderful people they shared it with. The Belle of the Ball was Lydia Bridges and the Beau was Jordan Dobson.

Year 10 Business students from Liskeard School and Community College recently visited London as part of their course to gain a real life experience of the business world.

The trip was packed with activities to maximise the experience. After having arrived in London Paddington on the train, students got their first taste of business in London by using the tube to get their first destination. This would be the primary method of transport for the rest of the visit. Students started by visiting the Bank of England Museum and understanding the role the BoE plays in the world of business. From here, students visited the London Eye to ask visitors questions which will help for their controlled assessment work, before enjoying the views the Eye itself offers. Students enjoyed the evening with a visit and meal in Chinatown.

Liskeard School & Community College recently hosted an evening to exhibit the stunning work of its students to fellow students, parents and the wider community.

Work included GCSE and A-Level in the subject areas of art, photography, media and textiles. The work on view across all courses exhibited a very wide range of subject matter and personal inspiration some of which portrayed highly emotive, challenging and thought provoking themes.
