Dear parent,

The document below briefly summarises key ideas provided by an Educational Psychologist and revision specialist, Dr Martijn van de Spool, who visited us last Thursday.  He worked with Year 10 students, with staff and also delivered a session to parents that evening.  He was an inspiring speaker and was appreciated by students and adults alike.  Please do discuss Dr van de Spool's workshop and key messages this with your son/daughter, and encourage your son/daughter to revise in the run up the Year 10 exams.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Year 10 students will be taking their end of year exams in the week beginning 27th June.  These exams mark an important step in the next twelve months leading to your son/daughter’s GCSE exams.  As teachers and tutors we will be working with students more and more about revising and how to carry out this complex and challenging activity effectively.

At Liskeard we believe that when we work together we achieve more. Being part of a team encompasses a number of important values that are as important in school as they are in life.

We believe that in Team Liskeard:

  • Everyone is equal and has a voice
  • Everyone should be treated fairly and with respect
  • Everyone takes responsibility for their actions

Being part of a team includes being part of society at large. Our values link directly to the five ‘British Values’ as defined by the Department for Education.

British Values

Liskeard School and Community College is committed to serving its community. It recognises the multi-cultural, multi-faith and ever-changing nature of the United Kingdom. It also understands the vital role which it has in ensuring that groups or individuals within the College are not subjected to intimidation or radicalisation by those wishing to unduly, or illegally, influence them. The College follows equal opportunities’ legislation and guidance which guarantees that there will be no discrimination against any individual or group regardless of faith, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, political or financial status, or similar. It is dedicated to preparing students for their adult life beyond the formal examined curriculum and ensuring that it promotes and reinforces British values to all of its students.

In conjunction with Chartwells we are re-launching Breakfast Club which will be served from the New Hall (8am onwards). Breakfast is a really important meal of the day, giving students a good start to learning. This is especially important coming up to exams too. The deals and offers are listed below.
