Great news for our young carers. Funding may be available from the Duke of Cornwall’s Benevolent Fund for our students for activities, emotional health and wellbeing support.
The Duke of Cornwall Benevolent Fund for Young Carers aims to make a difference to young carers either as a group or individually. A young carer is anyone aged 18 or under who helps to look after a relative or friend who has a disability, illness, mental health condition or substance abuse problem where these duties go beyond what would be expected for a person of their age.
Grants will be available to young carers within Cornwall, to go towards, for example:
- Respite Care
- Accommodation
- Learning Breaks
- Healthy living
- Activities
- Equipment
- Leisure membership
The funds are aimed at offering young carers the opportunity to be young people, free from their caring responsibilities. The maximum award per young person is £200, with a maximum £250 per family.
