Dear Parents and Carers

Y7-9 Progress and Assessment Sessions:
Thursday 1st October: 9.45-10.45 am and repeated at 6.00–7.00 pm
Wednesday 4th November: 9.45-10.45 am and repeated at 6.00-7.00 pm

As per our previous notices, we are holding information sessions for all parents and carers of students in years 7 to 9 on the dates and times above in order to inform you about recent changes to the GCSEs and assessment frameworks, and to provide you with information about changes to our reporting format and how we will support your sons and daughters. The talk will be given by the Deputy Head, Mr O’Connell, and will take place in the Active Learning Centre (ALC). Please arrive at Reception ten minutes before the session is due to start and you will be met and escorted to the ALC.

The aim of the sessions are to give you an overview of the new GCSEs: the principles behind the new curriculum, the new grading structures and the key factors to note concerning how they are assessed. I will also explain how we have adapted our reporting processes and provide information about our new, online homework setting and recording tool, ‘Show My Homework’.
I do hope you will be able to attend one of these events. There is no need to book your place – just turn up and I will look forward to meeting and talking to you.

If you have any particular needs such as use of the lifts, assistance from guides and signers or with parking because of a disability or you require support if English is not your first language, please let us know in advance so that we may be ready to assist you on your arrival.

Yours sincerely
James O’Connell
Deputy Head
