Dear Parents, Carers and Students

Year 12 Parents in Partnership Evening

Monday 5 October 2015

6pm- 7pm in the Common Room

Now that all the courses have begun for this year we thought that it would be useful to hold an evening to explain some of the processes and events that will be offered during year 12. As the first six weeks are a trial period when we make sure that students are placed on the right courses there may be questions that you wish to ask and things that you do not understand. This will be the ideal time to clarify any issues and allow you to have an insight into Sixth Form life. We would also like to explain the relevance of other courses that we run in conjunction with all our level 2 and 3 programmes.

The academic tutorial session which is scheduled every day will be an ideal time to make sure that all students are on track to complete their courses successfully as well as learning new skills for the future. These sessions are so important that they are a compulsory part of all the courses we run. Attendance to college will be monitored and anyone who falls below 80% will be charged for exam entries and any attendance lower than 70 % may result in reviewing their place in the sixth form. To avoid this situation arising we stress that medical appointments etc need to be made out of school hours where possible and that driving lessons must be made after 3.15pm. Holidays taken during term time will be marked as unauthorised. There is an absence hotline number 01579 325734, where a message can be left with the Sixth Form Office. Please call before 11am if you possibly can.

Best wishes

Mrs Gill Prichard, Assistant Head, Director of Sixth Form
