Alex-Lingard-Head-Teacher

Mr Alex Lingard BSc (Hons)
Head Teacher

As I’m sure you are aware the government intends for every school to become an academy within the next few years and to work collaboratively with other schools in ‘multi-academy trusts’ (MATs). This has been knowledge for some time and, as mentioned previously, we have been exploring various options over the last 12 months. We are very keen to work with localprimary and secondary schools and are hoping to form a MAT within South-east Cornwall. The benefits of doing this will mean we can share expertise, support each other and combine resources.

Working closely with the local primary schools we have put together a series of master classes for the brightest students in years 4 and 5. Wendy Birkbeck, Assistant Head Teacher, not only oversees all the work we do in school for our 'most able' pupils, but is also in charge of the primary to secondary transition programme.

I've mentioned previously about our invitation to take part in the 2016 Parliamentary Review. As you know we are 1 of only 12 schools across the country to be selected. All 12 schools are considered to be 'outstanding or considerably improving'.

May I take this opportunity to thank parents for their feedback. A number of you have been in touch and it is so nice to receive such lovely comments about the school. We recently held a Year 7 parents' coffee morning and were delighted with the response about how well the children have settled in from a parents' perspective.

Having just read the draft of our next edition of The Reflection (due out very soon) I'm almost exhausted at the thought of all the activities, events and trips that have taken place over the last few months. It really is a cracking read and I hope you enjoy all the articles about the school and some of the local primaries when it comes out.
