Mr Alex Lingard BSc (Hons)
Head Teacher

As the term draws to a close it is a good time to reflect on what has been achieved and to think ahead about what still needs to be done. On a personal level it's been a wonderful first term as a new Head Teacher. There have been some challenging decisions to make, but far more importantly I have witnessed some fabulous achievements by hundreds of students, both in and out of the classroom. The New Year brings with it some challenging times, especially for our older students having to complete their mock exams.

Mock exams are particularly tough, I believe, as they are condensed into a week (to protect curriculum time) meaning students often have to sit a number of exams each day. They are, of course, an essential element of schooling as they not only simulate the real thing, but also give a very clear indication of where the students are in their learning and what areas they need to improve upon. The only way to prepare is to revise. This requires organisation and commitment. Even though the Christmas holidays are on the horizon students should really be setting aside time to complete revision at home using the guidance from their teachers.

At the end of term we say farewell to Mr Granville-West and Mr Gray. Mr Garnville-West is joining to continue teaching science and Mr Gray  is joining Newquay Treviglas to join the Business Studies Faculty. May I take this opportunity to thank them for their enthusiasm and passion, and for their dedication to the school and the students. We wish them well in their new schools.

We held our annual Co-op Day this week and what a day it was! There was all sorts going on around the school, from Ready, Steady, Cook to building the Eiffel Tower out of spaghetti! We were joined by Year 5 & 6 students from our Trust partner schools and they fitted in seamlessly. As always the theme was based on co-operation and once again the students did us proud achieving more together!

Don't forget, the Christmas Concert is taking place on Wednesday next week! As always it promises to be a fabulous evening. I hope you can join us.
