Sixth Form students at Liskeard School and Community College recently attended an all day workshop at the Royal Cornwall Museum Truro, working on their skills and listening to an established artist speak.

The students developed their presentation skills by creating a presentation based around an art object from the museum. Liskeard students, along with a group from Penair School were the first to volunteer, and impressed the crowd by delivering a short but interesting piece focused on a Bernard Leach ceramic tile. Invited gallery curators fed back enthusiastically to our group and complimented them on their work.

During the day, students also had the opportunity to listen to artist Kurt Jackson talk about his work. Kurt is an artist who lives in Cornwall, and has an exhibition in Truro focusing on his hometown of St Just in Penwith.

Following their involvement in the workshops, Liskeard students have been invited to enter a round of regional presentations, which culminates in a competition at Plymouth University.
