Congratulations to Liskeard School & Community College Year 7 students Minnie Bauer and Melissa Zalick, who were named as winners in the SUEZ recycling and recovery bird/insect box competition.

Minnie and Melissa’s insect box was created as part of Liskeard School’s Technology House competition, where students were tasked with designing boxes from reused or recycled materials, with the motto that ‘less is more’ adopted.

A number of entries to the House competition were entered into SUEZ’s school competition, and Minnie and Melissa’s design impressed judges so much they were declared winners! The students were presented with their award at the official opening of the Cornwall Energy Recovery Centre in St Dennis on Friday 15 June, by Tony Burge, Plant Manager and the CEO for SUEZ Recycling and recovery UK, David Palmer Jones.

SUEZ recycling and recovery UK works in partnership with Cornwall Council and other local organisations to manage the household waste that's generated daily across the county, and Minnie and Melissa’s design will be displayed on the footpath around the energy recovery centre.

Massive congratulations go to Minnie and Melissa for their success!
