Sixth Form students at Liskeard School & Community College have been working in the community with adults with physical difficulties, carrying out engaging and entertaining activities.

Each Wednesday afternoon since early January, the students have been visiting the Echo Centre, a day resource for people in the local area with physical disabilities, working with the staff to help create activities for those who attend the centre to get involved in.

The students have organised quizzes and challenges for those at the Centre each week, and have been tallying up their scores over their time visiting the Centre meaning they will be able to determine the overall team winner when their sessions have ended.

The visits have been organised as part of the students’ Sports Leadership Level 3 course, and provides valuable experience in leading and coaching. Previous to their sessions at the Echo Centre, students did something very similar at Passmore Edwards Sheltered Living, working with the elderly.

The feedback to the students and their sessions has been fantastic, with Echo Centre attendees remarking that they have used “ingenious and clever ideas”, that the tasks make them use their various strengths and weaknesses and the “students are a credit to the school”.

The students involved are as follows: Oli Bowman, Amy Bunt, Max Cowie, Louis Devine, Charlotte Madden, Josh Randall, Laura Rogers, Grace Smart, Will Stuart, Orson Thomas and Max Gilbert.
