Help Liskeard School Alumni Olivia Early take her debut show to The Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year!

Following successful performances in London, Birmingham and Bristol, actress, Olivia, is calling on the local community to help raise the funds to take her theatre company’s debut show ‘A Womb of One’s Own’ to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Developed by Wonderbox, a theatre company co-founded by Olivia and run by women who produce, write and perform their own original work, A Womb of One’s Own is a topical production is aimed to opening up discussions about abortion. The fearless dark comedy follows university student Babygirl as she encounters a journey of self and sexual discovery only to find out she is ‘Up the proverbial Duff’. We see Babygirl grapple with crotchety grandparents, unsympathetic hospital staff and new-found independence in a show that is at times irreverent and laugh-out-loud funny – proving feminism isn’t po-faced.

Wonderbox is aiming to crowdfund £2,000 to contribute towards the cost of taking the show to the prestigious festival to which will go towards accommodation and travel costs as well as theatre fees and marketing materials. With a total goal of raising £10,000 for the whole month’s expenses.

If you are able to support the fundraising effort in any capacity, visit Wonderbox’s Fringe Frunder page to donate:

Olivia comments: “After receiving high praise and four and five star reviews naturally the next step for us was to take the show to The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Edinburgh is a platform for the arts and can accelerate its trajectory.

“As a prestigious performing arts festival and most well-known in the world it is the perfect place to share our story. We want to get people talking about this taboo subject and need to share it with as many people as possible and that all begins with getting it in front of the right audience in Edinburgh. We feel our message is important now more than ever with the rise of TRUMP and the DUP.”

After growing up performing at Sterts Theatre, training at Plymouth City College and Liskeard School and Community College Olivia is extremely thankful for the all the support Cornwall has given her and hopes you can support her and her company on the exciting adventure to Edinburgh.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the biggest celebration of arts and culture from around the globe and takes place every August for three weeks.
