Year 10 Business students from Liskeard School and Community College recently visited London as part of their course to gain a real life experience of the business world.

The trip was packed with activities to maximise the experience. After having arrived in London Paddington on the train, students got their first taste of business in London by using the tube to get their first destination. This would be the primary method of transport for the rest of the visit. Students started by visiting the Bank of England Museum and understanding the role the BoE plays in the world of business. From here, students visited the London Eye to ask visitors questions which will help for their controlled assessment work, before enjoying the views the Eye itself offers. Students enjoyed the evening with a visit and meal in Chinatown.

The following day, students visited ‘The Crystal’ – an initiative focused on sustainable urban living - and were tasked with developing business ideas and opportunities this sector presents. Students had the opportunity to experience the Emirates Airline cable cars and the Thames Clipper while en-route to their final stop, the Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising. Here, students were given a session about the history of branding which ended in them designing the new incarnation of a brand of their choice and presenting it to the rest of the group.
