As part of an ongoing initiative to educate students on the importance of E-safety, Liskeard School and Community College recently held an assembly for Year 7 and 8 students.

The assembly was hosted by local, upcoming singing star Rich Cottell who gave a speech surrounding his own experiences with the potential dangers of online media. Rich recently interviewed a representative from leading social media site Facebook and explained the importance of setting your privacy settings correctly to avoid security issues.

Rich also introduced the students to The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) which provides advice and support for Internet safety.

Rich then wowed the audience with an inspirational acoustic musical performance, getting in more practice ahead of his upcoming nationwide tour!

Assistant head teacher Wendy Birkbeck said “We were delighted to have Rich attend our school assembly. The music was superb but the message behind his visit is increasingly important and something young people across the country need to be fully aware of.”
