On Friday 14th November 2014 Liskeard School hosted the East Cornwall Year 7 Rugby tournament. This is an annual tournament involving fourteen schools from the east of the county and is a qualifying event that eventually leads to the winners playing the winners of the west of the county to identify the county champions.

This year ten schools accepted an invitation and teams were halved into two groups of five for the round robin group stages. In our first match we entertained the normally strong Newquay Tretherras team and were beaten 0-20 with two tries conceded in each half. It became obvious that the day was going to become a steep and sharp learning curve for the Year 7 team, but they duly upped their game to defeat Bude 5-0 in their second game. The solitary try being scored by Ethan Brenton-Crabb.

The final two games of the group stage involved a 0-5 loss to Bodmin and a 5-0 win against Fowey. Unfortunately this concluded our involvement in the tournament and resulted in the team watching Newquay Tretherras defeat Penrice in the final.
