Liskeard School and Community College’s Year 12 Arts Leaders held open auditions for Gifted and Talented children in the spring of 2014.

These professional style auditions were all based around the arts, covering art, drama, music and photography.

After the auditions the children started attending arts workshops. Music workshops were held on Mondays from 3.30-5pm and the art, photography and drama workshops were held on Wednesdays at the same time.

They were separated into their strongest subjects, enabling them to extend their own arts practice.

The art leaders took the role of teachers in their specialized subjects.

Feedback from younger students:

Q&A:

What did you enjoy about the art club sessions? Would you have liked the club to continue for more sessions and why?

Art: “I enjoyed the environment and the leaders that helped and made a real effort to do the sessions. I would want there to be a session every week because it’s been really fun and it has been a great time discovering new things.”

Photography:

Music: “We did lots of activities as well as music. This helped us to relax and we could concentrate.”

Drama: “I met Yr 5 students that I didn’t know.”

The work the younger students produced will be displayed in the end of year Art Exhibition in June.Arts-Leaders
