to Liskeard School and Community College, Cornwall
Liskeard is a friendly, caring, supportive school with people and relationships at its heart. It is a unique school of extraordinary staff and students and enjoys exceptional support from parents and the local community. We are proud of our school and we are relentless in our approach to make it even better. We take the education of our students very seriously. Providing students with the attitudes, knowledge and skills to lead happy, fulfilling lives is at the heart of what we do.
The success of our students is going from strength to strength. Students continue to shine academically at GCSE, A Level and on our vocational courses. The sixth form is consistently ranked in the top 25% nationally and we have a remarkable record in securing first choice university places for those wishing to access higher education. The recent OFSTED report acknowledged our excellent results in English and the remarkable improvements seen in maths.
We treat all our students as individuals and challenge them to be the best they can be no matter who they are. We have an ethos based on high expectations; we expect high standards of behaviour, excellent attendance and positive attitudes. We have an effective approach to discipline with zero tolerance of bullying. We believe in the traditional values of courtesy, respect, consideration for others, punctuality and taking pride in the uniform of the school.
We provide a happy, safe, secure school and a caring environment for all pupils, especially the vulnerable. We encourage
all our pupils to contribute to the local community through our Community Awards scheme
and to remember those less fortunate. We have a rich tradition of charity fundraising at the school and we believe you get the best out of children through praise, encouragement and reward.
Someone once said, “It takes a whole village to educate a child.” At Liskeard, we take this to heart and became a co-operative trust school in January 2012. Our aim is that by building our work on the principles and values of co-operation, the improvements we have secured in recent years in both aspiration and achievement will continue to rise and our community as a whole will thrive.
